The day began at 6:30am as Jenni and Aaron got into the car to go to church. Jenni only knew that today there was a special date planned. As they were driving, the sun began to rise on the horizon, and the fog gently rose above the ground. Aaron told Jenni that the fog had risen in order that it might see all the glory and splendor of Jenni's beauty as she rode past.
The couple went to church in Libertyville, Illinois at
St. John's Lutheran Church, and afterward went to see where Aaron's Great-Grandfather (Fredrick Biebert) and Great-Grandmother (Anna Biebert) were buried.
After church, the couple headed south on I-94 towards Chicago. Jenni seemed a little surprised, but quickly it turned to excitement as she realized that it must be quite an adventure ahead for the day.
Whe they arrived in Chicago, they parked at the Palmer House Parking Structure and headed toward
Navy Pier. Once they got to Navy Pier, they took a ride on the
Ferris Wheel and received an audio tour of the sites. It was shaping up to be a beautiful day, with no clouds and 68 degrees, and it made the outdoor portion of their day fabulous.
After the Ferris Wheel, they walked a short distance to the
Odyssey II, which is a $10 million cruise ship, and had a two hour brunch cruise on Lake Michigan.
Once brunch was over, they walked off the gang plank and into an
Old Trolley. It took them to a
river boat in the downtown area for a tour of the Chicago architecture and sites. It was rather fun, and Aaron took over 42 pictures of the buildings.
After that, it was time to relax and see more of the city. Jenni and Aaron boarded an EL train and cruised around the city seeing
Wrigley Field, the
Library, and other famous Chicago sites.
Just before sunset, it was up to the
95th story of the John Hancock Building for dinner. The sun was setting just as the couple sat down at their table.
The view was amazing! The restaurant was top of the line, with an attendant to refill our drinks at every sip. They both ordered the same great food, and enjoyed a great desert as the night lights of Chicago twinkled on one by one.
Following the carriage ride, they went for a walk through
Grant Park toward
Buckingham Fountain. Aaron read a letter professing his love and devotion to Jenni, and then proposed to her in front of the fountain at 9:58pm. Jenni agreed to marry Aaron, and then moments later, the fountain erupted into a 20-minute water and light show.
It was a quite a day, and surely one that neither of them will forget anytime soon!
